Thought I found a couple of great VPS hosts after a week of research and got totally hosed in the final hours.

Try to gather as many reviews about its web hosting services (both positive and negative) and serve these as basis in choosing web host providers.

Make sure you'll have something like a personal representative or sales representative in the hosting provider so you can easily deal with various issues related to service usage.

There are thousands of web hosting providers out there, but only a few dozen are true hosting providers like
1) Inmotionhosting.com
2) Cloudarion.com
3) QHoster.com
All that really matters is which web hosting is right for you. Contact them, their IT technicians are well-trained and absolutely committed to their clients' satisfaction.

Try Hostnamaste.com OpenVZ VPS. As for the pricing, it is reasonable. I like their customer support, it works 24/7.

I'd normally look for in below order:
Support (Technical support is very important), Value for Price (you will get what you pay for), Uptime, Reliability!
As for nice VPS hosting solutions, can recommend Exmasters.com and also Hostforweb.com - they are professionals.
Uptime is fantastic and the ability to upgrade and downgrade is a plus.
